Day by Day
On special days, the itinerary may change.

Day 1. Welcome to Oaxaca
You arrive in a city that doesn’t whisper—it sings. Cobbled streets, vibrant facades, and the quiet thrum of something ancient beneath it all. After settling in, we’ll take a golden-hour walk through the historic center and toast the journey ahead with mezcal and intention.
TOE Taste Experience:
Dinner under the stars, prepared by a pioneer of contemporary Oaxacan cuisine. Smoke, memory, and fire on every plate. Your abuela wouldn’t understand it—but she’d love it.

Day 2. Art in the Air, Clay in Your Hands
We head into the valley foothills, where creativity grows like wild herbs. In San Agustín Etla, we visit CASA—a former paper mill transformed by maestro Francisco Toledo into a sanctuary where water flows through walls and into the work of local and global artists.
Later, we visit Isabel, whose clay studio smells like earth, smoke, and wildflowers—and whose pieces feel like they were dreamed, not made.
TOE Taste Experience:
An Oaxacan meal cooked over a comal, with heirloom corn and chilies that defy translation.

Day 3. Temples, Traditions, and the Rural Table
We walk where the ancestors walked: Dainzú and Tlacochahuaya, where ancient ball courts and baroque altars live side by side. In the afternoon, we’re welcomed into a rural kitchen for a hands-on cooking session.
TOE Taste Experience:
Join Frederick—Frederick, a former journalist turned fire-cook, who believes stories and recipes are basically the same thing—and local cocineras to prepare a meal rooted in fire, metate, and memory.

Day 4. Choose Your Oaxaca
Today is yours. Choose from three ways to go deeper:
-
Explore the sacred geometry of Monte Albán
-
Decode the mosaics and myths of Mitla
-
Or stay in the city for design, coffee rituals, and slow discovery
TOE Taste Experience:
A boundary-pushing tasting menu that reimagines tradition—crafted by Uriel and Liha, a daring young couple blending ancestral knowledge with contemporary creativity.

Day 5. From Mezcal to Mist
We leave the valley behind. First stop: a mezcal palenque where agave is still roasted underground and tasted straight from the still. Then, we ascend into the Sierra Sur—into pine forests, cool mist, and stillness.
TOE Taste Experience:
Simple. Generous. Lunch in the shade, cooked by women using ingredients from their gardens and plots. Flavors that speak without needing to shout.

Day 6. Woven by Many Hands
Wake up to birdsong and mountain light. Then meet the women behind a 500-strong textile collective—where coastal cotton becomes cultural memory. Watch, listen, and if you're moved, weave a few threads of your own.
TOE Taste Experience:
A slow lunch of highland flavors—mushroom broth, thick tortillas, salsa from stone. Dinner brings locally cured meats, rustic bread, and mountain wine. Quiet decadence.

Day 7. Nature as Muse
We follow forest trails to hidden waterfalls. The water is cold and clear—perfect for soaking your feet and pausing the world. Then, we paint. Not to be artists, but to remember.
TOE Taste Experience:
A farewell feast in a fairytale wood cabin. Opi and Marian share handmade pasta, edible flowers, and garden herbs—served with candlelight and care.

Day 8. Back to the Valley
We descend through San José del Pacífico, clouds parting as we return to the valley. A final stop for warm bread, wool weavings, and a last long look.
TOE Taste Experience:
One last bite. One last story. Because departure can be a ritual, too.

If you need different dates or a more private setup, say the word—we’ll tailor it to fit you.
